Dr. Carliana Carpenter — or Dr. CC, as most know her — is an Ocean Beach native with a lifelong passion for caring for families, especially moms and kids..
Experience & Passion
Dr. CC’s nurturing nature showed up early. She began babysitting at just 11 years old and continued working with children throughout high school and college. While earning her undergraduate degree at University of California, Santa Cruz, she worked with youth of all ages through various art organizations. In 2009, she lived in New York City where she interned with a nonprofit supporting at-risk youth by providing summer jobs painting murals in Harlem — an experience that deepened her love for working with kids and community-based care. From the very beginning of her time at Life West Chiropractic College, Dr. CC knew she was meant to support families and specialize in pregnancy and pediatric care.
Professional Training & Approach
During her doctoral training, Dr. CC cared for many pediatric patients in the school clinic and participated in chiropractic mission trips to Malinalco and Mumbai, expanding her clinical experience with diverse populations. She is Webster Certified and holds advanced certifications in pediatric and prenatal care through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association. She is also currently working toward becoming an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
Dr. CC has been part of the Cafe of Life community since 2018 and is deeply passionate about supporting families through every stage — from pregnancy to postpartum and beyond.
Her approach to care is both intuitive and highly individualized. She utilizes a range of techniques — from gentle to more specific — always tailoring care to what each body needs. She believes there is no one-size-fits-all approach and is committed to helping patients understand the root cause of their concerns while feeling supported every step of the way.

Personal Life
Dr. CC and Dr. Steph met years ago through a mutual connection and instantly knew they were meant to work together. She joined the Cafe of Life team while Dr. Steph was pregnant with her son Roland, and the two have loved growing alongside each other, both professionally and in motherhood.
Outside of the office, Dr. CC feels most alive listening to live music (she grew up on classic rock thanks to her parents). She and her husband, Scott, love staying active and are often out fishing, hiking, traveling, or exploring the coast.
In May 2024, they welcomed their son Everett, who has quickly become a little social butterfly around the office, often “helping” with adjustments. Dr. CC also has two wonderful stepdaughters, Caitlyn and Bailey, who adore their little brother.
Her family is close by, with her parents living just a few blocks away in Ocean Beach; something she treasures deeply. Her mother Marialy is from Cuba and her father John is from Washington state, he started the first drive-through coffee cart in San Diego “Bean Me Up”, check him out! He makes a great latte.
